XPTuneup is the flagship product of XPTuneup Software & Consulting,Inc. This software utility is designed to help you fine tune your Windows XP environment using a simple GUI interface.

XPTuneup 3.0 has been released on August 27th, 2002 and this significant new additions over previous release ( which was XPTuneup 2.0 released on June 4th, 2002). Apart from keeping the promise of being a simple inteface, It has many of the plus points. Following three options are available :-
1.Process/Thread Monitor, an integrated taskbar
2. Registry analyzer and cleaner
3. Admin options that include controlling auto logon feature as well as time synchronization feature with atomic clocks. Also included is new feature that would allow you to add/remove entries in control panel as well as for Microsoft Windows XP Professional users, an option to run various Microsoft Console Applications.

This software has been developed to help you apply many of the tips listed on this site via a simple interface. It goes without say that version 3.0 includes all of the capabilities of version 2.0 which has been an implementation of about 50 tips listed on this web site.

What's available in XPTuneup release 3.0 ?

Everything that is available in release 2.0 which mean following feaures :-

1. UNDO option is now available. You can selectively undo each of the four categories.
2. Welcome screen provides realtime display of available physical and virtual memory
3. A log is now maintained of the activities carried out on your system. Tips that have alread been applied are grayed out (disabled) so that you know what has been applied and what has been left out.
4. Also, if it is the first time you have installed the software, it will scan your system and registry settings and would automatically enable/disable tips that have been applied on your computer.
5. Interactive notification of actions taken. Now when you click on any of the buttons. you would be notified via a message balloon. You also hear a sound notification as well.
6. Bringing mouse next to ? icon would change the mouse shape and clicking on it would take you to the portion of the site where corresponding tip has been decribed in detail.

Registry Analyzer Screen:
One of the quick ways to scan registry for standard errors and clean it up. Beware ! What you see in this screen may not be entirely incorrect. So please you final judgement before removing any item from registry. An inadevertant action from you can cause the system to break or render it unusable causing loss of data.

Process Monitor Screen:
Not just get thread/heap level details of active processes but also kill them if need be. You can you use right click enabled floating window to switch to one of the three modes.

Admin Options: Auto-logon feature screen:
This new screen provides you with all the needed features for setting autologon options.

Admin Options: Control Panel Add/Remove screen:
You can chose what you want to see in the control panel. By selecting or de-selecting a check box and applying the changes you can simply control your control panel contents.

Admin Options: Microsoft Console feature screen:
XP Professional users can now see and execute many of the Microsoft Console Applications from one single screen. This may not work on other operating system including XP Home.

Admin Options: Atomic Clock Synchronization screen:
Now you have an option of not just setting various registry options to synchronize your system clock with that of atomic servers but you can do that instantly if you are not behind a firewall.

Typical Ballon Shaped Message Window:
There has been some modification carried out in the messaging system. Now if you have changed a registration setting that requires you to reboot, you would be reminded to do so and if you chose so, it will boot the system for you. Also, message window that interact with user has been changed to ballon shape. This feature was available in previous release as well even though it may not have been noticed that well.
